Medicine Drum's sound and style has always been individual and mystical. The band has supported some of the biggest names in dance music including Moby, The Chemical Brothers, The Orb, Juno Reactor and Sound Tribe Sector 9 - and has played all over the world including Japan, Morocco, South Africa, Canada, London, Glastonbury Festival UK, Australia, Israel, Mexico, Europe, and the USA. Medicine Drum are back with a new all star line up featuring Greg Ellis on drums (Juno Reactor, The Matrix), Rara Avis on electronics, Lisbeth Scott on vocals (Peter Gabriel's "Last Temptation", Narnia) and special guests MC Wisdom and MC Dakini Star (The Goddess Alchemy Project). Medicine Drum continue to stretch the boundaries of electronica with their dynamic live shows which often include ritual dance theatre and performances by indigenous artists such as Native American drummers, African musicians and dancers. Their cutting edge sound and visually stunning stage presence continues to draw critical acclaim from around the world.
Together they have achieved the elusive perfect balance between the acoustic and the electronic, using today’s most advanced technologies mixed with ancient live instrumentation to create a unified sound reflective of the polarized nature of our times.

Jujuba (featuring Nojeem Lassisi)
Nojeem has settled in the Northwest and assembled Jujuba from local musicians who all share a true love for Nigerian music. Their diverse experiences in a wide range of styles propel the project into new directions based on Afrobeat, Juju and traditional Nigerian folk music. Nojeem Lasisi and Jujuba have created a unique blend of African and Western music they hope is enjoyable to all.
Heyokas’ earlier works were identifiable by their crushing basslines and ‘spacey’ blips and glitches, ‘Pineal Dub’ shows progression from Heyoka as a producer with greater use of negative space and ethereal melodies that can only be heard as melancholy or wickedly cheerful. The response to his emergence so far has been overwhelming with Heyoka opening nights for Tipper, Benga & Skream, and a host of other internationally known producers.

DownTemple--in addition to being the title for this new music series--is also the theme for some of these downtempo events, where a vision of promoting a conscious way to walk peacefully in the world is shared by all. This is the intent written into their music: that it may contribute to the overall well being of the people living on this planet. Music is our key to healing. Music is our key to finding fellow travelers during these intense times, and it is our key to understanding the great depths of human emotion, and our potential to soar. ------- DOWNTEMPLE DUB: WAVES is Rara Avis and Amani Friend's first full-length album together. Born less than 48 hours apart in the year of the Dragon, these longtime friends share many cosmological connections, animal totems and spiritual practices, and an uninhibited passion for the musical diversity of the Universe and the healing properties of sound and vibration.
Ms. Sound is also very actively teaching, administrating and practicing Tian Gong, which is a Qi Gong practice & non-profit. Anahata sound began her Tian Gong practice in 2003 with lucid dream experiences before entering the classroom in 2007. With a strong background in Reiki, Qi Gong, yoga (Kundalini/ Ashtanga/ Iyengar/ Hatha), yoga mantra, Meditation, Shamanism, sound healing, intuitive healing and Ayurvedic, Western and Chinese herbs and whole foods healing, anahata quickly came to the fore as a Tian Gong Certified Instructor and core staff member in early 2008.
On stage, he is a subtle madman, walking his neighborhood of songs blind, feeling each step, one word at a time. He seems to be not as concerned with the meaning of the word, more with the sound of it, leaving the lips slowly, squeezing each syllable for the drips of meaning. In between songs, instead of stories, he'll meander through voices and characters that seem alien and familiar, like a little gremlin thats been there all along, letting us see inside his strange musicbox, and the contraptions inside. Don't think that he is all about the odd parlor tricks, his music is also grounded with a deep root of human warmth; reaching through the ground slowly, to the center of this, simple, sensual, and thankful. His latest upcoming album, to be released Spring '09, is an Ocean Faery tale. The story of a boy leaving on the sea, to save the world from its industrial mess, and his return home after a dance with the siren queen.
